Nicole Ari Parker (born Nicole Ari Parker) is an American actress who works in both film, television and theatre. She's best known as Teri Joe the fiery lawyer in her role on the Showtime show Soul Food. She is now known by her married name, Nikki Kodjoe. The talent she displayed in her acting was apparent in her early years. An Maryland high-school competition awarded her with the award for best actress. She earned her acting degree at New York University after working for 'The Washington Ballet Company' as well as performing in the theatre. After the show ran for 92 times, she was rewarded with praise from the audience. The play was deemed one of the most successful productions in Canada by critics. She was invited to attend Stratford's conservatory, a program that allows only four males and eight women are able to take an intensive 20-week training in classical theater. Her place in the upcoming play season was secured and she won the role as Hermia.
